CGI, The Commission for the Management and Application of Geoscience Information, is a Commission of the International Union of Geological Sciences.  The mission of CGI is to enable the global exchange of knowledge about geoscience information and systems. This website will be one of the most important ways that CGI will achieve its mission.

Current technical collaboration activities:

• Interoperability Working Group - developing standards to enable seamless web integration of data hosted by different agencies.
• Multi-lingual thesaurus working group - developing a core multilingual vocabulary for Geosciences.
• Metadata forum - the rapid growth in the internet has raised the importance of Metadata.
• OneGeology - an interoperable geological map of the world.
