Standards and Proposed Standards

This page is a listing of specifications for some operation or artifact type put forward as a standard under the stewardship and authority of some outside organization. USGIN participants may be involved with groups that maintain these standards, but this activity is outside the purview of the USGIN Steering Committee. We prefer to refer to these as specifications until they are widely enough used to be considered actual standards.

Note that the Marine Metadata Interoperability Site has a compilation of various standards that is quite useful. See Services, Protocols and Formats and Content Standards.
